Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg was asked to leave the Oval Office during a key defense meeting with President Donald Trump and senior military officials on Wednesday, Hindustan Times reported, citing NBC News. The meeting focused on the Air Force’s next-generation fighter jet project, and officials were reportedly surprised and concerned by Zuckerberg’s presence, as he lacked the necessary security clearance to attend.
An official described the situation as a “bizarre world,” calling it unusual and unrealistic. However, the Daily Mail offered a different version, reporting that Zuckerberg entered at Trump’s request, greeted attendees politely, and left on his own, as his meeting with the president was scheduled after the defense discussions.
Zuckerberg’s political affiliations have evolved over time. Once seen as close to Democrats, he has recently shown support for Trump’s “Make America Great Again” program, even attending Trump’s inauguration in January 2025 alongside Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk. However, recent reports suggest Trump’s relationship with Musk has since deteriorated.
