Ziggy Marley Honors Bob Marley’s Birthday with Emotional Tribute Single and Announces Healing New Album

On February 6, the birthday of his father Bob Marley, nine-time GRAMMY winner Ziggy Marley released a heartfelt new single, “Many Mourn For Bob.” The song marks the first time Ziggy has written and released an original track dedicated specifically to his father, offering a deeply personal reflection on Bob Marley’s life, legacy, and the emotional space he continues to occupy in Ziggy’s heart.

The track took shape while Ziggy was working on the 2024 biopic Bob Marley: One Love, a period that allowed him to revisit his father’s story through a renewed lens—bridging childhood memories with the global cultural impact of the Marley name. The accompanying video enhances the intimacy of the song, featuring rare private images from Ziggy’s early years with his father.

At the same time, Ziggy announced his ninth solo studio album, Brightside, a project designed as a “sonic healing” experience. In a notable creative decision, the entire album was recorded in 432Hz rather than the industry-standard 440Hz—an approach often associated with warmer, more soothing sound frequencies used in mindful listening practices.

Brightside will be released in two phases via V2 Records: a vinyl edition on April 18 and a digital release on May 1. The album features eight tracks, including “Many Mourn For Bob,” alongside songs such as “JAH We Give Glory,” “Racism Is A Killa,” and the title track “Brightside.”
