Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday expressed doubts about the seriousness of Russia’s participation in the first direct talks between the two countries in over three years, suggesting Moscow may have sent a delegation without real decision-making power, reports AFP.
“We need to understand the level of the Russian delegation and what their mandate is—whether they can actually make decisions,” Zelensky said. “From what we see, it looks more like a dummy.”
He also noted that Ukraine would evaluate its next steps after further discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
