Talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan concluded on Thursday in Ankara, according to an AFP correspondent on the ground. The meeting, part of Zelensky’s broader diplomatic efforts to garner international support amid the ongoing war with Russia, ended as the Ukrainian leader departed the venue.
“The meeting with Erdogan has ended,” confirmed Zelensky’s spokesperson Sergiy Nykyforov, without providing additional details about the discussions. The leaders were expected to address issues related to regional security, Ukraine’s NATO aspirations, and Turkey’s role in potential mediation efforts.
