The proposed budget for the Ministry of Youth and Sports for FY2025–26 has been set at Tk 2,423 crore, reflecting a substantial increase of Tk 842.32 crore from the previous fiscal year’s revised allocation of Tk 1,581 crore.
Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed announced the figures during the national budget presentation on Monday. Of the total, Tk 983 crore is designated for operational costs and Tk 1,440 crore for development activities—more than double the previous year’s development allocation.
The budget prioritizes key initiatives including participation in national and international sports events, distribution of national sports awards, talent scouting, rural sports development, training of skilled athletes, and the construction and maintenance of sports infrastructure. It also includes financial support for sports organizations and welfare grants for struggling athletes.
The significant increase signals a stronger focus on youth engagement and sports development across the country.
