A 27-year-old man, Shamsul Islam, was injured after being shot by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) at the Bishwambarpur border in Sunamganj district early Monday morning.
Shamsul, son of Abdus Sattar from Rajapur village in Dhanpur union, reportedly crossed the international border near pillar 1210/10S at around 3:45 AM, allegedly for smuggling purposes, according to sources from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local residents.
