Unidentified Man Found Dead on Ramna Footpath Near NSI Headquarters; Police Suspect Illness, CID Forensics Called to Identify Vagrant

Police have recovered the body of an unidentified man, aged around 65, from the Ramna area of the capital. The body was found on the footpath opposite the gate of the Ramna NSI headquarters on Friday, September 18, in the morning. According to Ramna Police Station Sub-Inspector Tanvir Hasan, the body was recovered from the scene after passers-by informed the police. It was subsequently sent to the Dhaka Medical College Morgue for autopsy. The police officer said that locals had indicated the man was a vagrant, and it is believed he died due to illness. To confirm his identity, the CID forensic team has been informed, and efforts are underway to establish who he was. The recovery of an unidentified body in a busy area of the capital is a reminder of the vulnerability of homeless and destitute individuals, who often lack access to medical care and whose deaths can go unnoticed or unclaimed. The autopsy will provide more details about the cause of death, while the forensic team’s involvement may help identify the man and notify any surviving family members. The investigation is ongoing, and further information is expected as the police continue their inquiries.
