Two children tragically drowned in a pond at Bairiharinmari area of Palashbari upazila, Gaibandha, around 2 PM on Saturday.
The victims were identified as Abid Mia, 11, son of Shafiqul Islam, and Labib Mia, 10, son of Abdul Aziz Mia—both from the same locality.
According to locals, recent days of continuous rainfall had caused nearby ponds and canals to overflow. The two boys had gone to bathe with other children when they suddenly drowned.
Palashbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto confirmed the incident.
