A Dhaka court on Saturday imposed a travel ban on former Sherpur-1 MP Atiur Rahman Atiq and his wife Shantana Begum in connection with a corruption investigation.
The order was issued by Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), which is investigating allegations of illegal wealth accumulation and assets beyond known income sources.
The ACC raised concerns that the couple might attempt to flee the country to evade the investigation, prompting the court to approve the travel restrictions to ensure an unobstructed probe.
