At least seven people were killed and 30 others injured, including two children, when a passenger train derailed following a bridge collapse in Russia’s Bryansk region near the Ukrainian border. The incident occurred at 10:44 p.m. local time between Pilshino and Vygonichi stations as the train was traveling from Klimovo to Moscow.
Regional Governor Alexander Bogomaz and Moscow Railway officials blamed the incident on “illegal interference” with transport operations. According to reports, several heavy trucks fell onto the train as the bridge gave way, causing the derailment. Rescue operations began immediately, and the injured were taken to nearby medical facilities.
Despite the severity of the accident, other train services in the region remain unaffected. Images shared by Russian authorities show the collapsed bridge and multiple damaged vehicles. The cause of the interference is under investigation.
