The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert forecasting thunderstorms with gusty winds of up to 60 kmph across eight districts. The warning, effective until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, applies to inland river ports in Mymensingh, Barisal, Patuakhali, Comilla, Noakhali, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet.
According to the advisory, winds from the south or southeast may temporarily intensify, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms. River ports in these areas have been instructed to hoist cautionary signal number 1.
A separate bulletin indicated that similar weather—featuring rain or thunderstorms with gusty winds—is likely to persist across all divisions over the next few days. Some areas may experience moderate to heavy rainfall.
The department added that the monsoon is currently fairly active over Bangladesh and moderately active in the northern Bay of Bengal, signaling continued unstable weather conditions nationwide.
