Bangladesh’s presence in international franchise leagues has historically been limited, but the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 final is set to feature a unique milestone. Three Bangladeshi spin all-rounders—Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Rishad Hossain—are part of Lahore Qalandars’ title-contending squad.
The final, scheduled for Sunday (May 25) at 8:30 PM Bangladesh time in Lahore, pits Lahore Qalandars against the in-form Quetta Gladiators, who have won seven consecutive matches.
Rishad Hossain, the standout among the trio, has taken 12 wickets in six matches and reclaimed his place with a three-wicket performance in the second qualifier. He will likely lead Qalandars’ spin attack in the final.
Shakib, returning to competitive cricket after six months with a revised bowling action, has struggled for form—going wicketless and scoring zero in two of his three appearances. Still, his experience across 16 franchise T20 finals makes him a key asset.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz, yet to make his debut in a foreign league, has remained on the bench throughout the tournament.
This will be Qalandars’ fourth PSL final. After falling short in 2020, they claimed back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023. Their opponents, Quetta Gladiators, last won the trophy in 2019 and boast a strong lineup featuring Riley Rossouw, Finn Allen, and a potent bowling attack led by Mohammad Amir and Abrar Ahmed.
Sunday’s final not only marks a potential third consecutive title for Lahore but also a defining moment for Bangladeshi players on the PSL stage.
