St. Martin’s Island Faces Food and Fuel Crisis Amid Six-Day Vessel Suspension

All passenger and cargo vessel operations on the Teknaf–Saint Martin’s Island route have been halted for six consecutive days due to rough weather, causing a severe shortage of food, fuel, and medicine on the island. The suspension, in effect since May 25, has cut off essential supplies as the island lacks storage facilities and relies on daily shipments from Teknaf. Residents are facing mounting difficulties, while local authorities have assured efforts are underway to address the crisis.
