Tollywood actress Srabanti Chatterjee revealed in an interview with Anandabazar Patrika that she became a mother at just 16, raising her son Jhinuk almost alongside her own growing years. Srabanti described their relationship as more like friends than mother and son, with Jhinuk’s friends calling her “Didi” instead of “Aunty.”
Reflecting on the challenges of early motherhood, she admitted that 16 was too young but also pointed out its advantages—such as returning to acting by age 21 with fresh energy. Srabanti shared that she often discusses film scripts with her son before accepting roles and highlighted their close bond. She also spoke about gender awareness among today’s youth, the impact of social media, and advised newcomers in the industry to focus on improving their craft rather than being discouraged by criticism.
