South Africa Emerging Gain Upper Hand After Strong Reply to Bangladesh in Four-Day Clash

The South Africa Emerging team made a solid comeback on Day 2 of the first four-day match against Bangladesh Emerging, reaching 149-3 in their first innings after bowling out the hosts for 308 at the Bir Shrestha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram on Wednesday.

At stumps, George Marthinus Van Heerden remained unbeaten on 46 alongside Onkgomoditse Richard Seletswane, who was on 32. The pair added an unbroken 82-run stand for the fourth wicket, recovering the innings from a shaky 67-3 and giving the visitors control of the match.

Bangladesh’s Ripon Mondol struck early, finishing with 2-26, but the momentum shifted as South Africa rebuilt steadily through disciplined batting.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh Emerging resumed at 233-4 but collapsed to 308 all out, losing their last six wickets for just 75 runs. Captain Shahadat Hossain Dipu, who began the day on 42, managed only two more runs before his dismissal triggered the slide.

Tailender Ripon Mondol contributed a fighting 26 at No. 11, helping the team cross the 300-run mark. However, South Africa’s solid reply has now put the pressure back on the hosts heading into Day 3.
