In a shocking and unsettling incident, four skeletons from the same family were stolen from Mirdangi Maheshpur cemetery in Bachor Union of Ranishankail Upazila, Thakurgaon. The theft occurred on the night of Sunday, May 25, but came to light on Monday afternoon when locals noticed disturbed graves while grazing livestock nearby.

The dug-up graves, which belonged to members of the same family—including Amirul Islam, Rabeya Begum, and Zarifa Begum—were found empty. Some of the deceased had been buried as recently as four and a half months ago, while others had been laid to rest over the past two years. All were residents of Tekia Maheshpur village.

Upon receiving the report, Ranishankail Police visited the scene. Sub-Inspector Rahmatullah Rony confirmed the incident and said that an investigation is ongoing. The grave theft has caused widespread panic and outrage in the local community.
