Authorities have implemented six additional security measures at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to enhance passenger safety and prevent untoward incidents, airport officials confirmed.
Key measures include:
- Increased screening of VIP and VVIP passengers’ baggage
- Regular awareness briefings for Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel
- Special surveillance directives for the CCTV monitoring team
- Mandatory manual searches of ‘high-risk’ bags after metal detector and X-ray scans
- Prior authorization and record keeping for individuals carrying firearms
- Formation of investigation committees and immediate preventive actions in case of security breaches
An airport official stated, “Our position on security measures is very clear. There is no laxity whatsoever. Responsibility and supervision have been further increased at all levels.”
