Six Killed as Private Jet Crashes into San Diego Neighborhood Amid Dense Fog

A private jet crash in San Diego’s Murphy Canyon neighborhood early Thursday morning killed all six people onboard, officials confirmed. The Cessna 550 Citation, owned by music agent Dave Shapiro, went down in dense fog around 3:47 AM while attempting to land at Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport.

Audio recordings reveal the pilot was concerned about minimal visibility but opted to proceed. The plane struck power lines and ignited nearby homes and vehicles, though no serious injuries were reported on the ground. Among the deceased were Shapiro, two of his staff members from Sound Talent Group—Emma Huke and Kendall Fortner—photographer Celina Kenyon, software engineer Dominic Damian, and Daniel Williams, former drummer for The Devil Wears Prada.

The NTSB said the plane lacked a flight data recorder and noted malfunctioning approach lights and weather systems at the airport. A full investigation is underway and is expected to take weeks.
