Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is poised to return to competitive cricket, having been picked by Lahore Qalandars for the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The 38-year-old confirmed the development to media on Tuesday.
Shakib will potentially join fellow Bangladeshi Rishad Hossain in the Lahore squad as the PSL resumes on May 17 after a week-long suspension triggered by India-Pakistan tensions. He has been training privately in Dubai in preparation for his return. His previous PSL stints include playing for Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, during which he scored 181 runs and took 8 wickets in 14 matches.
However, his participation is still subject to approval from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), which has yet to receive a formal No Objection Certificate (NOC) request from Shakib. A BCB official stated that the board’s clearance is mandatory before Lahore Qalandars can officially field him.
With several overseas players unavailable for the PSL’s final stretch, teams are leaning on seasoned international replacements like Shakib to strengthen their squads. Lahore Qalandars’ final league match is scheduled for Sunday, and Shakib could make his debut then—provided the NOC is granted in time.
