Schools, Madrasas, and Colleges Begin Eid-ul-Azha and Summer Holidays with Varying Durations

Educational institutions across Bangladesh have started their Eid-ul-Azha and summer holidays, with closures beginning officially on Sunday, June 1. However, many institutions have already suspended classes since May 29 due to the preceding weekend. The length and timing of the break vary by institution type, according to the 2025 academic calendars issued by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.

Secondary schools will remain closed for 23 days, from June 1 to June 19, with classes resuming on June 22 after the weekend. Madrasas will enjoy the longest break—25 days—from June 1 to June 25. Technical institutions are closed from June 1 to June 19, with classes restarting on June 22.

Government primary schools will observe a 21-day vacation from June 3 to June 23, returning to class on June 24. Colleges, both government and private, will have a shorter 10-day Eid break from June 3 to June 12, without a separate summer vacation.

The variation in holiday lengths reflects the differing structures of academic calendars across education levels in the country.
