London-based company Sayan’s Global has expressed interest in acquiring a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise under the name ‘Noakhali Royals’.
Ahmed Jamil, owner of the company, confirmed on Monday in Mirpur that they have already informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) about their intention to enter the next edition of the BPL. “We are completely ready from our side,” Jamil stated, adding that their aim is to promote Noakhali’s identity through the team. “We want to buy the team in the name of Noakhali. We will not take any other name. We want to promote Noakhali.”
The BCB board of directors is set to discuss the proposal in their ongoing meeting and decide whether to approve a new franchise under this name. The board will also communicate any required documentation if the franchise approval moves forward. Sayan’s Global lists a London address as its main contact on its website.
