Former Bangladesh women’s cricket captain Rumana Ahmed has publicly called out the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), questioning the prolonged exclusion from the national team that she believes has derailed her career.
Rumana, who stirred attention two years ago with her emotional “No More Cricket” social media post, has once again spoken out. Despite a brief return, she has remained sidelined from the squad and is now seeking clarity and accountability from cricket’s governing body.
In a heartfelt post on her verified Facebook page on Tuesday (May 20), Rumana wrote, “To the respected guardians of the BCB—whether I’m playing or not, this kind of immorality and chaos cannot continue. Please provide a final resolution. Being out for three long years without a reason is no laughing matter.”
She further emphasized her commitment to the game, stating, “My record proves I’ve never played with negligence or engaged in any immoral activity. Seniority should never be treated as a curse. I want justice from those who destroyed what could have been a shining cricketing career.”
Rumana made her international debut in 2011 and has been one of the key figures in Bangladesh women’s cricket. Now 33, she last represented Bangladesh in the Women’s Asia Cup in July 2023. Over her career, she has played 50 ODIs, scoring 963 runs and taking 50 wickets, along with 87 T20Is where she scored 866 runs and claimed 75 wickets.
As one of the most experienced all-rounders in the women’s team, Rumana’s plea has resonated with fans and former players, reigniting the conversation around transparency, accountability, and fair treatment in women’s cricket in Bangladesh.
