A major power outage struck the area surrounding the French Riviera resort city of Cannes on Saturday, coinciding with the final day of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, AFP reports.
The blackout, which began shortly after 10:00 AM local time (0800 GMT), affected approximately 160,000 homes, according to grid operator RTE. The cause of the outage remains unknown.
Despite the disruption, festival organizers confirmed that the closing ceremony would proceed as planned and remain unaffected by the power cut.
