A man was brutally killed by unidentified assailants in Kalihati upazila of Tangail district early Sunday, according to local authorities.
The victim, Akhtarul Haque, 45, was a worker at a local poultry farm and hailed from Chirirbandar upazila. He was the son of Nur Islam.
Locals suspect that a group of thieves attempted to rob the poultry farm during the night. When Akhtarul tried to stop them, he was reportedly slaughtered. The attackers then tried to dispose of his body in a nearby drain.
His body was discovered by locals the following morning, who immediately alerted the police.
Kalihati Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zakir Hossain confirmed the incident, stating that the body was recovered and sent to Tangail General Hospital for autopsy. An investigation is underway.
