Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova said an emotional goodbye to her favourite tournament on Tuesday after losing 6-3, 6-1 to 10th seed Emma Navarro. The 35-year-old Czech star, who won titles at the All England Club in 2011 and 2014, plans to retire after the US Open in September. Fighting back tears in a special on-court interview, Kvitova reflected, “I never dreamed of winning a Wimbledon and I won it twice. This is something very special. I will miss Wimbledon for sure… but I’m ready for the next chapter.” Kvitova missed last year’s Wimbledon due to maternity leave and confirmed her decision to end her career later this season, citing changes in motivation alongside physical challenges.
