Dhallywood actress Parimoni appeared before Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal No. 9 on Monday (May 26) for cross-examination in the 2021 assault and attempted rape case at a boat club in Savar.
Her lawyer, Nilanjana Rifat Suravi, confirmed that the court has scheduled a date for the defense to interrogate Parimoni regarding her allegations.
The case stems from a June 8, 2021 incident where Parimoni alleged she was physically assaulted and sexually harassed at a club on the banks of the Turag River. She later took to social media and held a press conference seeking justice.
Following her complaint, businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud, his associate Tuhin Siddiqui Ami, and Shahidul Alam were arrested and later charged. The court officially framed charges on May 18, 2022, and the trial began.
Parimoni’s testimony concluded on September 22, 2023, after beginning in November 2022, and the case has now moved to the cross-examination phase.
