For the first time, Palestine will be allowed to raise its national flag at the World Health Organization (WHO), following a symbolic yet significant vote at the organization’s annual conference. According to a Reuters report on May 26, the resolution—proposed by countries including China, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia—was passed with the support of 95 member states.
While Germany, Hungary, and the Czech Republic opposed the move, and 27 countries abstained, the resolution was adopted by majority. The development is seen as a diplomatic win for Palestine and a step toward broader recognition as a state within various UN organizations.
