As of Thursday morning, 74,316 Bangladeshi pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform the holy Hajj, according to Religious Advisor Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain. Speaking at a press conference at the Ashkona Hajj Camp in Dhaka, he confirmed that all remaining pilgrims are expected to arrive by June 1, following a one-day extension of the original May 31 deadline due to special circumstances.
Dr. Hossain noted earlier concerns about flight coordination between Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Hajj agencies, which have since been resolved in collaboration with three participating airlines. He emphasized the government’s efforts to ensure smooth Hajj management, including the deployment of Hajj workers in Mecca and Medina, provision of adequate medical supplies, and swift resolution of any complaints.
Despite challenges posed by new Saudi regulations, the advisor affirmed the government’s commitment to keeping Hajj costs reasonable and managing the pilgrimage effectively. He requested prayers for the safe return of all pilgrims and the successful completion of the Hajj management process.
