Over 200 Hatiya Students Face Missing University Admission Test Due to Storm-Halted Boat Services

More than 200 admission seekers from Hatiya upazila in Noakhali are at risk of missing the National University’s honors first-year admission test, scheduled for Saturday, May 31, due to a suspension of boat services caused by severe weather. Boat travel is the only route connecting Hatiya to the mainland, and services have been halted since Tuesday.

Desperate students and their guardians gathered at Nolchira ghat under pouring rain, hoping for a chance to cross to Chairman ghat and reach the district headquarters in time for the exam. Without a solution, many fear missing the test will delay their academic future by a full year.

Students are urging authorities to either reschedule the test or provide emergency transport alternatives. Noakhali Deputy Commissioner Khondkar Istiaq Ahmed stated that weather conditions are improving, and boat services may resume by Friday evening or early Saturday, allowing students a narrow window to reach exam centers by the 11:00 AM start time.
