Armed clashes between two regional political groups, UPDF and JSS, erupted in the Bangaltali area of Baghaichhari upazila in Rangamati early Friday morning (June 6), leaving one dead and three injured. The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old UPDF member Ripel Chakma, while one of the injured is a five-year-old child, Pragya Chakma.
The gunfights, which began around 8 a.m., were still ongoing as of late morning, according to police sources. Baghaichhari Police Station OC Humayun Kabir confirmed the incident and stated that law enforcement teams were on their way, though the remote location was causing delays. The violence has triggered panic among local residents.
