Shohei Ohtani blasted two home runs, sparking a four-run sixth-inning rally that propelled the Los Angeles Dodgers to an 8–5 win over the New York Yankees in a thrilling World Series rematch on Friday night. In a historic moment, Ohtani and Aaron Judge became the first reigning MVPs to homer in the first inning of the same game.
Despite early homers from Judge, Austin Wells, Trent Grisham, and Paul Goldschmidt that gave the Yankees a 5–2 lead, New York’s bullpen faltered once again, mirroring their collapse in Game 5 of last year’s World Series. Ohtani’s second homer jumpstarted the Dodgers’ comeback, highlighted by Freddie Freeman’s RBI double, Andy Pages’ game-tying hit, and a bases-loaded walk that gave L.A. the lead.
Pages added a two-run single in the seventh to extend the Dodgers’ advantage. Tanner Scott held off a Yankees threat in the eighth, and Alex Vesia closed out the ninth for his second save.
The teams meet again Saturday, with Yankees RHP Will Warren set to face Dodgers RHP Landon Knack.
