At a Dhaka Reporters’ Unity discussion on Tuesday, Gono Adhikar Parishad president Nurul Haq Nur declared that the July movement represents national unity rather than division, urging political parties to avoid divisive rhetoric. Criticizing recent remarks by the party’s chief adviser in London about banning Awami League, Nur called them saddening but reaffirmed his party’s stance of never compromising with Awami League or its allies, including Jatiya Party. He also questioned the advisory council’s ability to conduct fair elections and called for a referendum if necessary. General Secretary Md Rashed Khan reflected on the sacrifices of the 2018 quota reform movement and warned against Sheikh Hasina’s return to power, urging collective unity to build a new Bangladesh. Other senior leaders emphasized sincerity and tolerance as the path forward.
