National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam has condemned the continued killings of Bangladeshis by India’s Border Security Force (BSF), calling it a “regular occurrence” over the past 50 years due to the failure of successive governments to act.
Speaking at a rally in Panchagarh on Thursday evening, Nahid also criticized recent illegal push-ins by Indian authorities, declaring, “This is not Sheikh Hasina’s Bangladesh; it belongs to the students and people. If anyone is to be sent, send Sheikh Hasina and her fascist government back. We will bring them to justice through a mass uprising this July.”
He urged unity across religions and communities to resist “Indian aggression” and called for a new constitution, trial of those responsible for the July uprising, and fundamental state reforms before national elections.
Nahid reaffirmed the NCP’s commitment to street movements, saying, “We are not engaged in a temporary emotional movement. We are organized for a new political purpose.”
He announced that the party will present the ‘Manifesto of the Hopes and Aspirations of the People of Bangladesh’ at Dhaka’s Central Shaheed Minar on August 3, calling on citizens nationwide to join the event.
