National Citizen Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam announced that the party will not participate in any national election held without judicial reforms, structural changes, and a new constitution. Speaking at a street rally in Lalmonirhat’s Mission Mor on Wednesday evening, he said such elections do not represent the people’s will.
Nahid voiced strong support for the upcoming “July Charter,” calling it essential for restoring democracy, and vowed to remain on the streets to ensure its enactment. Criticising India for denying Bangladesh fair river water shares, he declared that NCP will soon launch a movement to demand river and border rights for people in border areas.
Emphasising that NCP was formed out of public necessity to provide an alternative political platform, he pledged to improve education, healthcare, jobs, and digital connectivity in northern regions like Lalmonirhat, aiming to create youth employment through technological and infrastructure development. The rally was led by Northern Region Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam and attended by senior NCP leaders and activists.
