NCP Leader Warns of Renewed 1/11-Like Political Conspiracy, Urges Structural Reform and Youth Mobilization

Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam has raised alarms over what he describes as a renewed attempt to orchestrate a 1/11-style political scenario in Bangladesh, warning that foreign influences—particularly from Delhi—are actively working to destabilize the country and block democratic reforms.

In a strongly worded Facebook post late Friday, Nahid asserted that there are deliberate efforts to divide the nation, suppress sovereignty, and keep Bangladesh in a weakened state following the ban on Awami League’s political activities. “We aim to liberate Bangladesh’s politics from all forms of external dominance and ensure full sovereignty,” he wrote. “These ongoing efforts to create instability mirror the playbook of the 1/11 takeover.”

Nahid appealed to patriotic citizens, especially the youth and military personnel, to remain vigilant and resist any form of fascism or foreign interference. He emphasized that Bangladesh’s future must be charted by its own people, not dictated by outside interests.

Addressing Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Nahid urged him to fulfill his promises to the nation by pushing forward key reforms and ensuring justice for those affected during last year’s July Uprising. He called for the timely release of a “July Declaration,” outlining a roadmap for reforms, accountability, and a new political structure through simultaneous elections for a Constituent Assembly and a new legislature.

“The sacrifices of the July Uprising must not be forgotten,” Nahid said. “The July Massacre needs to be addressed with visible justice, and the foundation for a new constitution must be laid.”

Earlier that day, Nahid spoke at a gathering hosted by NCP’s youth wing, Jatiyo Juboshokti, in Dhanmondi. The event brought together young organizers from across the country to discuss the current political unrest and the importance of unity. He stressed that the movement born out of the July Uprising should not be reduced to a mere change of power, but must lead to structural transformation of the political system.

“The more we internalize the spirit of July, the more progress we’ll make,” Nahid said, warning that some who participated in the uprising now seek only power under the old constitution—something NCP fundamentally rejects.

Calling on youth to become the vanguard of change, Nahid concluded, “The new republic must be built on patriotism and values. Juboshokti’s mission is to awaken and prepare the next generation to defend the nation and build a democratic future rooted in justice and reform.”
