Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and his family have received death threats through a letter sent to their village home in Kaunia upazila of Rangpur on Friday (May 16).
Akhtar revealed the incident in a Facebook post on Saturday night (May 17), stating that a letter, signed by someone using the alias “Bullet,” threatened to kill him, his family, and relatives.
In his post, Akhtar wrote, “A man calling himself ‘Bullet’ sent a letter to my village home, threatening to kill me and my family members. He said wherever I’m found, I’ll be killed and thrown into trouble.”
Expressing his concern, Akhtar admitted the threats have left him anxious but affirmed his resolve. “I believe I’m living a bonus life. I’ve come close to death multiple times, but even with the fear of death, I’ve never backed down from protest—and never will, Insha’Allah. My trust is in Allah,” he added.
His elder brother, Arif Hossain, confirmed receiving the threatening letter by post and said the matter has been reported to local authorities. According to Arif, the letter stated, “We are not worthy of accepting them, so we will eliminate them wherever they are found.”
Authorities have assured the family that appropriate action will be taken in response to the threats.
