National University Launches ‘July Martyrs Memorial Scholarship’ to Honor Youth of July Uprising

In recognition of the youth’s pivotal role in the July Uprising, Bangladesh’s National University has introduced the annual ‘July Martyrs Memorial Scholarship’. Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus inaugurated the initiative on July 1 by awarding scholarships to three students.

This one-time assistance will support meritorious, marginalized, and disadvantaged undergraduate and postgraduate students across 725 affiliated institutions, benefitting 2,040 students this year. The scholarship also honors the 32 National University students martyred during the uprising. Education Advisor CR Abrar emphasized that the July movement transformed Bangladeshis into empowered citizens, highlighting the need to build state institutions that prevent future dictatorships.
