A Narayanganj court has rejected the bail petitions of former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy in two separate cases involving murder and attempted murder. Senior Judicial Magistrate Haidar Ali issued the order on Wednesday following a hearing.
Ivy, who was arrested from her Deobhog residence on May 9, is currently being held at Kashimpur Central Women’s Jail. The bail applications were filed in connection with the murder of rickshaw-puller Md Tuhin and the attempted murder of hawker Nadim—both cases lodged at Siddhirganj Police Station.
Ivy’s lawyer, Awlad Hossain, confirmed that bail was also sought in a third case related to the murder of garment worker Minarul Islam, but the hearing has been deferred to May 27 pending a decision on a police remand request, which is scheduled for May 25.
Authorities previously listed Ivy as “shown arrested” in the cases involving Tuhin and Nadim.
