Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been signed by the Delhi Capitals for INR 6 crore to play the remainder of the IPL 2025 season, making it one of the highest-ever contract figures for a Bangladeshi cricketer in the league. However, per IPL regulations, Mustafizur will receive a prorated portion of that amount, based on the number of matches left in the season.
Delhi Capitals have three league matches remaining, with potential playoff games if they qualify. Even if Mustafizur doesn’t play every game, he is eligible for a prorated salary simply by being part of the squad. Additional match fees will apply if he takes the field.
He joins the squad as a replacement for Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk, who was originally signed for INR 9 crore but has departed due to the recent India-Pakistan tensions. While Mustafizur’s signing is for a lower fee, it still ranks among the highest for a mid-season replacement.
According to IPL rules, replacement players cannot be retained for the next season and must re-enter the auction. This will be Mustafizur’s third stint with Delhi, having previously played for the franchise in 2022 and 2023. The IPL resumes on May 17 following a temporary suspension.
