Fresh off their Premier League title win, Mohammedan SC will play their first match as champions today, facing Rahmatganj MFS at 4 PM at the Shahid Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Comilla.
While Rahmatganj is scheduled to travel to Comilla this morning, Mohammedan arrived yesterday afternoon. The team was greeted warmly by local supporters, who brought a celebratory cake to the dressing room during their practice session. Fans shared the cake with players and coaching staff, marking the occasion with joy and pride.
There had been discussions between the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and Mohammedan officials about handing over the league champion’s trophy in Comilla, similar to how Bashundhara Kings received their trophy ahead of the league’s conclusion in a previous season.
However, those plans fell through due to time constraints and a lack of preparation by the league committee. As a result, there will be no trophy handover in Comilla today. The exact timing and location of the ceremony remain uncertain.
Speculation suggests that the trophy may be presented during Mohammedan’s final match in Gazipur or possibly at the Bashundhara Kings Arena, depending on scheduling and logistics.
Despite the delay in the official celebration, Mohammedan fans are already in high spirits, eager to see their team take the field for the first time since securing the title.
