Bangladesh’s new ODI captain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, has assured there is no tension within the dressing room following recent leadership changes. Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s series opener against Sri Lanka, Miraz stated that no discussions were held with Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was removed as captain last month, emphasizing that the team’s focus remains on performance and national pride.
As Bangladesh transitions to a younger setup after the retirements of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad, Miraz urged senior players to fill these crucial middle-order roles. He expressed readiness to take up one of the positions himself, alongside Litton Das, to provide stability. Miraz, who has captained Bangladesh in four ODIs previously, begins his journey as a full-time leader at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on July 2, with options like Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali, and Shamim Hossain available to strengthen the middle order.
