A man named Aman was detained on Monday afternoon (May 19) after attempting to board a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight to Cox’s Bazar without a valid ticket at the domestic terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
Aman, a resident of Nabinagar in Brahmanbaria, tried to board flight BG 437, which was scheduled to depart for Cox’s Bazar at 4:30 PM. Despite having no boarding pass, he managed to pass through multiple layers of airport security before being stopped at the final checkpoint near the aircraft.
According to airport sources, Aman successfully entered the terminal and bypassed the second level of security where boarding passes are typically verified. His deception was only uncovered during the final boarding check, when he failed to present a boarding pass. He was then immediately detained by airport security personnel.
Officials from different airport agencies, speaking anonymously, confirmed that Aman is currently being interrogated by security forces to determine how he breached multiple checkpoints.
The incident has sparked serious concerns about security lapses at one of the country’s busiest airports.
Group Captain Ragib Samad, Executive Director of the airport, stated, “The individual is under interrogation. Further details will be shared once the investigation is complete.”
