The forestry department has arrested Ariful Islam Dulal, a resident of Korailya village in Pathorghata upazila, Barguna district, for illegally setting deer traps deep within the Sundarbans.
Dulal was detained by the Smart Patrol Team-2 during a raid in the Sukhpara area of Sharonkhola range. Authorities seized 300 deer traps, a knife, a plastic sack, 100 feet of rope, and various other hunting tools from the scene.
Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Sundarban East Divisional Forest Officer, confirmed the arrest and stated that Dulal was produced before the court and has since been sent to jail for wildlife crimes.
