Mahendra Singh Dhoni Moves to Trademark ‘Captain Cool’ Title

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, known for his calm and courageous decisions on the field, has officially moved to trademark his famous title ‘Captain Cool’. The former Indian captain applied to the Trademark Registry of India in June 2023 after discovering that the name was already registered by Prabha Skill Sports Private Limited. Dhoni challenged the registration, calling it a ‘malicious’ attempt to misuse his brand. After four hearings, the registry accepted his application on June 16, 2025. If no objections are raised within 120 days of publication, the trademark will be granted. Dhoni, who earned the nickname for his composed leadership, recently led Chennai Super Kings in the IPL after Ruturaj Gaekwad’s injury, although the team finished last for the first time in its history.
