Large Consignment of Cumin Imported from India Through Akhaura Land Port Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

A significant shipment of cumin seeds—totaling 1,267 sacks—was imported from India via Akhaura land port on Sunday ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. The consignment arrived in four Indian trucks and was imported by three Dhaka-based companies: Parshi Impex, Satta Trading, and Ms. Adnan Trade International, which also acted as the clearing and forwarding agent.

Akhaura Customs Revenue Officer Md. Jahangir Alam confirmed the import, noting that the cumin was priced at $4.5 per kg (approximately Tk 545.76). The government is expected to earn Tk 97.03 lakh in revenue from this consignment.

Assistant Director of Akhaura Land Port Mahmudul Hasan stated that more cumin shipments are likely in the coming days. Traders anticipate the continued imports will help stabilize spice supply and pricing in the Eid market.
