Konstas and Green Praised Despite Modest Scores as Carey-Webster Stand Lifts Australia in Rain-Hit Test

Sam Konstas (25) and Cameron Green (26) received praise for their positive approach despite failing to convert starts on day one of the second Test against the West Indies in Grenada. Australia, who were 3-50 after Usman Khawaja (16) and Steve Smith (3) fell cheaply, recovered to post 286 thanks to a stabilising 112-run partnership between Alex Carey (65) and all-rounder Beau Webster (60).

Webster lauded Konstas and Green for putting pressure back on the bowlers, describing Konstas as “back to his best” with a clear and positive mindset. Webster, who has now scored four half-centuries in his first six Tests, said he is loving his time in international cricket and is focused on contributing runs and wickets to keep his place in the side. Play was halted before the West Indies could begin their innings due to bad light, after a day frequently interrupted by rain.
