John Kerry Says Israel Alone Cannot Destroy Iran’s Nuclear Program

Former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has stated that Israel lacks the capability to unilaterally eliminate Iran’s nuclear program, warning that any solo action would likely trigger greater regional instability.

In an interview with CNN, Kerry addressed ongoing indirect nuclear negotiations between Iran and the U.S., and rising threats from Israel to strike Iranian nuclear facilities. “Israel can damage it, but cannot stop it,” he said, adding that such a move would escalate dangers for the entire Middle East.

Kerry also expressed support for diplomatic efforts, saying, “I hope [Trump] makes the best deal possible. I’m happy the president is pursuing it.”

Meanwhile, the fifth round of indirect U.S.-Iran nuclear talks was held in Rome on May 23, led by Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and U.S. regional envoy Steve Witkoff. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai described the talks as calm and professional, reaffirming Iran’s policy positions.
