Hollywood actor and comedian Jim Carrey is getting married again, to his longtime girlfriend Min Ah. The couple have kept their relationship very private over the past few years, and the marriage will be the third for the 64-year-old star. Carrey’s spokesperson confirmed the marriage to US magazine People on September 30, though details about when, where or how the wedding ceremony took place were not disclosed.
Carrey’s relationship with Min Ah was already known in close circles, but they were rarely seen together in public. The two were seen together at the Cesar Awards ceremony held in France in February this year. At that event, Carrey publicly expressed his feelings for Min Ah. He gave his entire speech in French, beginning by expressing his love for his daughter Jane and grandson Jackson. He later referred to Min Ah as his “extraordinary partner” and said to her, “I love you.” During his speech, the audience applauded his daughter, grandson and Min Ah. At the same event, Carrey also remembered his late father, Percy Joseph Carey, saying that he had learned the value of love, kindness and laughter from him.
Jim Carrey and Min Ah have not publicly stated how long they have been dating. However, in February 2022, photos of them stepping out together after attending a charity comedy event in Los Angeles were released, and since then discussions about their relationship began. Carrey has always been relatively quiet about his personal life and has expressed a desire to stay away from the glittering life of Hollywood. He announced his intention to take a break from acting during the promotion of “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” in 2022. At the time, he said that if he came across a great script and felt it was important for people to see it, he might return to acting, but for now he wanted to stay on hiatus. He said he was enjoying a quiet life away from acting, liking to paint, spend time with his family and keep busy with his spiritual life. He also said he had “enough” in life.
Carrey was married twice before Min Ah. He married Melissa Omar in 1987, and their only child is Jane Carrey. They divorced in 1995 after about eight years of marriage. He then married his “Dumb and Dumber” co-star Lauren Holly in 1996, but they divorced within a year, in 1997. He later dated his “Kidding” co-star Ginger Gonzaga. They were first seen together on the red carpet at the Golden Globes in January 2019, but it was reported in the US media at the time that their relationship had ended within a year. After that, Carrey remained largely silent about his personal life, and his relationship with Min Ah was also kept under wraps for a long time.
Carrey is making a professional comeback as well as entering a new chapter in his personal life. Warner Bros. Discovery announced in August that he would star in a live-action adaptation of the popular animated series “The Jetsons.” The long-planned film will be Carrey’s first major studio live-action project in more than a decade outside of the “Sonic the Hedgehog” series. Colin Trevorrow is in talks to direct and write the screenplay, and Joe Epstein is also in talks to co-write. The animated series “The Jetsons,” which began in 1962, featured the lives of George Jetson and his family in a futuristic city. Meanwhile, Carrey is also set to return as Dr. Robotnik in “Sonic the Hedgehog 4,” scheduled for release in 2027. There are also talks about a possible sequel to the popular 2000 film “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” in which Carrey played the Grinch.
