Three people, including two engineers, died when the cornice of the fifth floor of an under-construction building collapsed in Circuit House Para, Jessore town, around 12:15 pm on Tuesday. The victims were identified as side engineer Azizur Rahman from Dinajpur, project engineer Mizanur Rahman from Kushtia, and construction worker Nur Islam.
According to worker Mujibur Rahman, they were working on the western part of the building’s fifth floor when the cornice suddenly collapsed, causing the three to fall. They were rescued and taken to Jessore General Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. Jessore Kotwali Police Station OC Abul Hasnat confirmed the incident, stating that the bodies are in the hospital morgue while police and fire service teams visited the scene for further investigation.
