Jamaat Chief Calls for Political Reforms Before Elections

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stressed the need for a proper political environment and fundamental reforms before holding elections. Speaking to journalists at Syedpur Airport on Friday afternoon en route to Rangpur for a public rally, he said, “The environment must be set first, then elections can follow. Meaningful reforms on fundamental issues are essential to ensure a free and fair election.”

He emphasized that reforms must take place to ensure credible elections with the participation of all stakeholders. Responding to questions about political violence, Dr. Rahman reaffirmed Jamaat-e-Islami’s opposition to mob politics since 1972, stating that no Jamaat workers or supporters are involved in such activities.
